U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner are in Doha, but apparently only to meet Qatari mediators. They will not be meeting with Iranian officials, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, reported CNN.

Trump had claimed yesterday that the Iranians had requested a meeting for today in Doha while the Iranians denied that there would be any meeting with US negotiators.

One meeting that did take place was the first meeting of the Joint Committee of the Omani-Iranian Commission in Muscat “to exchange views on the future management of the Strait and related matters,” reported the Omani Foreign Ministry. “The two sides discussed ways to enhance coordination on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz in a manner consistent with the common interests of the two countries and their sovereignty, affirming their commitment to international law, and exploring frameworks for cooperation in the fields of navigation and maritime services...”

The Omani side was chaired by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Hinai, the Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.
