That is the question asked by LaRouche organizer Doug Mallouk in his “Letter to the Editor” this week:
Across America, innumerable editors, columnists, and letter-writers have decried the June 14th UFC White House-staged cage-fight as a shameful insult to our nation’s 250th anniversary.
They’re half-right.
The question is, which USA are we celebrating? Is it the country that won critical victories for all humankind in the American Revolution, the so-called Civil War, and World War II? Or is it instead the wannabe imperial enforcer that since 9-11 has invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Iran, etc, killing millions, spending trillions, all while accomplishing zero discernible good?
Is it the land of pioneers and innovators that built everything from the Erie Canal to the Transcontinental Railroad, transforming a wilderness into the most powerful industrial engine on Earth in about one century? Or is it instead the epicenter of the history’s biggest financial bubble, created by present-day London-Wall Street speculators, as the underlying physical economy stagnates and suffocates?
Is it the nation whose moral clarity allowed General Douglas MacArthur to transform postwar Japan from a bitterly resentful defeated adversary into a close friend in five short years? Or is it instead the Grand Geopolitical Manipulator which sees ‘allies” like Ukraine as expendable sacrificial pawns to throw at Russia without costing American lives, as Senator Lindsey Graham has cynically boasted?
