President of Benin Romuald Wadagni paid a friendship and working visit to Mali on June 9. He was received with full honors by his Malian counterpart Assimi Goïta. The two leaders held private talks before proceeding to Koulouba Palace for working sessions focused on bilateral cooperation, according to a statement by the Malian Presidency, CGTN reports.
This visit marks a significant step away from the policy by the previous Benin presidency which supported the policy of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which imposed sanctions and a trade embargo against the AES states.
