The so-called “Summer Davos” is taking place in Liaoning Province for three days, while the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) is meeting in Beijing.
The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions—better known as Summer Davos—has rotated between Tianjin and Dalian each year since its launch in 2007. Global Times reports that this year’s forum is drawing significantly stronger participation from abroad, with foreign attendance up nearly one-third over 2025 levels. China’s “little giant” firms and so-called unicorn startup companies are also more heavily represented, with participation rising by approximately 40%. More than 100 panels and discussions are scheduled over the course of the three-day event, addressing topics ranging from technology and economics to energy and culture.
A major focus of the opening day was the reconstruction of Southwest Asia in the wake of the destructive war on Iran and the Israeli destruction of Gaza and the West Bank. Speakers include “experts” from Columbia University, Chatham House and other Anglo-Americans, as well as from the Gulf countries and more, so the proposals are varied and divergent.
This year, world leaders, including Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Guinea Amadou Oury Bah, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Min-seok (who is a graduate of Tsinghua University in Beijing) will attend the forum. More than 1,700 representatives from the political, business, academic and media communities from over 90 countries and regions will take part in the event.
In Beijing, the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) is bringing together 676 companies and institutions, including leading supply-chain players, from 85 countries, regions and international organizations, Global Times reports. The number of exhibitors at the fourth CISCE has increased from 515 at the inaugural edition to 676 this year.
