In a press conference on Tuesday, AfD co-chairperson Alice Weidel demanded an explanation from Kiev on the alleged role in the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline and demanded reparations. Last January, the Bundesgerichtshof (Germany’s Federal Court of Justice) had accused a foreign country of being behind the sabotage, outlining a profile that fits Ukraine.
Weidel spoke of a severe attack against a key German infrastructure and of huge economic consequences of the sabotage. “Ukraine must first explain how this act of state-sponsored terrorism—the destruction of our most critical infrastructure, namely the Nord Stream pipelines—came about, and what role it played in it.” This has produced “enormous damages” to the German economy, so that in order to compensate them, “the flow of money between Germany and Ukraine should reverse its direction.”
At the same time, she said that it would be important to negotiate with Russia. See 7:27 in this video.
