‘1,000 Days of Gaza Genocide’ Press Conference by Doctors Against Genocide

On July 2 Doctors Against Genocide held a press conference to mark the 1,000th day of genocide in Gaza with one million children under siege. Their message was clear, that nobody can say that they did not know. The entire world witnessed this genocide, and independent experts have documented it. There are over 3,500 violations of the ceasefire, with 1,060 Palestinians killed. The amount of explosives used in Gaza would be the equivalent of 14 nuclear bombs of the size used in Japan.

After destroying Gaza, Israeli settlers have taken 58% of the West Bank with over 500 illegal settlements. The small West Bank Palestinian villages are like little prisons. Different speakers spoke of their experiences of doctors treating patients with no hospitals, no supplies, or even light. Teachers described 637,000 students without classes. One teacher said that his school was destroyed and his students were killed or scattered. Some 93% of schools have been destroyed and the remaining are used for shelter. Schools can be rebuilt, but children are traumatized. One doctor referred a woman suffering from severe depression to a psychiatrist, but the psychiatrist would not accept the woman because both had lost a child and the psychiatrist said that it was too painful for her to discuss with the woman. Many speakers said that what was most urgently needed was basic infrastructure to maintain life.
