AIPAC's Secretive Money Trail in Colorado Election

Aware of its increased alienation and despised for its role in supporting genocide, ethnic cleansing, Apartheid, and other war crimes, AIPAC has been using an ever more convoluted labyrinth of front groups and super-PACs to launder its campaign contributions. In May 2022 Denver Congresswoman Diana DeGette accepted $2,900 from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), but later swore-off any additional money from the lobby. However, there was a late rush of about $2 million from AIPAC-connected Super PACs and Big Tech donors as a lifeline to DeGette’s sinking June 30 primary election, as documented by Ryan Grim in Drop Site.

The Colorado elections followed a familiar AIPAC playbook by relying on the super-PAC, the Elect Democratic Women Action Fund (EDW), which has been led by Congresswoman Lois Frankel of West Palm Beach, Florida, since it was formed in 2018. A new addition to the shell game is Pro-Choice Majority (PCM) which was quickly formed on May 1 and is a “sister organization” and legally affiliated with EDW. On May 1 AIPAC’s United Democracy Project contributed $350,000 to EDW and gave another $400,000 on May 20. Then, on May 21, 22, and 29, EWD transferred $876,000 to Pro-Choice Majority in three payments of $626,000, $180,000, and $150,000. Meanwhile EDW PAC gave $380,000 to EDW Action Fund, also in May.
