An anarchist mob started violent clashes with the police at the end of a rally in Bologna, which was called by the city’s Democratic Party mayor to ride a wave of protests against the death of a Moroccan citizen during a police action. According to the police union, 80 policemen have been wounded. While the radical left and the opposition compare the case of the Moroccan with the George Floyd case in the USA, at first investigation it appears that the police action against the man, Abdurrahim Fakir, was correct. An investigation has now been opened, with ample evidence in the hands of prosecutors, including the bodycam footage of the policemen and videos recorded by several neighbors, who are said to have called the police because the man was assaulting passers-by and damaging property. Apparently, the man was in an altered state of mind; he had a prior conviction for drug trafficking.
