A July 8 candlelight vigil in Houston brought together hundreds of people to mourn and demand an investigation into the death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, who was shot and killed by agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on July 7.

A press conference earlier in the day included members of his family, Houston-based Congressmembers Sylvia Garcia and Christian Menefee, State Rep. Christina Morales, leaders of immigrant rights organizations, and other local officials, who demanded an independent, transparent investigation into the killing.
