An agreement was signed on July 9 fro a $300 million credit line from the AFC, the first tranche of $60 million has already been released. This is the AFC’s first loan to Burkina Faso. The AFC is a pan African multilateral development bank founded in 2007 by its member states.
Less than 20 percent of the population of Burkina Faso has access to electricity while the country imports 60 percent of what little it has. The new power stations will be located near the nation’s capital, Ouagadougou.
