Anna Rathert, an MP from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, had posed a query along with other AfD MPs in May to the Chancellor’s office whether it received any information from foreign intelligence agencies before the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines and if it had received such, why it had not taken steps to protect pipelines.
The Government now “responds” by refusing to reply, citing serious implications for the national interest and claiming the issue could potentially affect relations between Germany and its allies in a negative way. Rathert interprets the non-response as showing that the Government apparently wants to hide something.
