Iran Attacks US Base in Jordan; US and Saudis Attack Iraq

Iran launched at least three ballistic missiles at the Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan, but the U.S. did not retaliate directly. U.S. Central Command claimed all missiles were successfully intercepted. The IRGC said in a statement, “As long as threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue and unlawful, hostile actions by American forces against our interests persist, the resistance will also continue.” It continued, “Threats by American officials and their unlawful interference against our interests must come to an end.”

The IRGC issued a separate statement overnight, reporting that it had targeted and stopped three “trespassing” oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. The three violating oil tankers “continued to move on an unsafe and illegal route (in the Strait of Hormuz) despite our warnings” and “were hit and stopped,” it said.

At least for now, there has been no direct U.S. response in either case, though during a Fox News interview today, President Trump, using very un-Presidential language filled with deleted expletives, promised a forceful response to Iran’s attack in Jordan.
