Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Meets with India’s Modi in Delhi

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan is in India trying to strengthen ties between the two countries, including a summit meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on July 2. Japan Today described the meeting as coming “amid mounting concerns over supply chain issues, energy security and China’s expanding regional influence…. The two leaders used the summit to advance cooperation in artificial intelligence, economic security, clean energy and defense, building on a 10-year roadmap adopted when Modi visited Tokyo in August last year.”

“By drawing on each other’s strengths, Japan and India can become stronger and more prosperous together,” Takaichi said Thursday during the joint news conference, adding that, “amid a turbulent international environment, building such a mutually complementary partnership has become increasingly important.”
