Both Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in separate presentations, are making clear, in explicitly forthright language, that the West can no longer be trusted. When the West makes calls for peace, it is actually issuing ultimatums for war, reported Lavrov. The West, said Zakharova, is complicit in terrorism perpetrated by Ukraine.

Lavrov, speaking at a press conference in Maputo, Mozambique July 9, with regard to current discussion for negotiations to end the Ukraine war, emphasized, “We outlined our assessments of the current Ukraine-related developments, including the actions of the West, which, while pretending to be ready for talks, has now, as the Europeans announced, moved to issuing outright ultimatums against the Russian Federation. The West hypocritically continues to call for a negotiated settlement. Negotiated settlements—under its guarantees—were reached in 2014, 2015, and 2019. In all these cases, the Western guarantors violated their own guarantees which proved to be invalid.”

He continued, “Likewise, in 2022, a negotiated settlement was reached between Russia and Ukraine. It was openly and publicly undermined by the very same West. We will no longer believe the West when it says it wants negotiated solutions. That reserve of goodwill and hope has been permanently exhausted.

“President Vladimir Putin has made it clear that we will continue to work on achieving the objectives that were set during his speech at the Foreign Ministry in June 2024.”

Zakharova, brought out further in her weekly briefing

“The Nazi regime led by Vladimir Zelensky is endeavoring to escalate terror against the civilian population and infrastructure of Russia in a bid to demonstrate to Western sponsors the so-called ‘effectiveness’ of the weaponry they supply, and to underscore the purported necessity for the further augmentation of military assistance to Ukraine. In essence, this tactic seeks to shift responsibility for its crimes onto its very patrons. Indeed, all who extend support to Kiev are, de facto, complicit in financing the terrorism perpetrated by the Ukrainian authorities.”
