An Omani delegation arrived in Tehran Friday for talks on a new arrangement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, reported IRNA, hours before President Trump reportedly issued an order to US forces in Southwest asia not to continue strikes on Iran. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei told reporters in Tehran on Sunday that during two days of talks the two sides exchanged views on common principles and practical mechanisms for ensuring safe maritime traffic through the strategic waterway while respecting the sovereign rights of the two littoral states. Baqaei stressed that the talks had been useful and that progress had been made, adding that the Omani delegation left Tehran on Saturday afternoon. Still, technical and political consultations between the two countries would continue.
Middle East Eye, citing Iranian state television, reported that the IRGC, had barred four ships from passing through the strait in the previous 24 hours. They were trying to use the southern corridor which Iran has declared to be unsafe.
