Ray McGovern and Scott Ritter: Europe Is Finished, War Is Lost

Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity leaders Ray McGovern and Scott Ritter were interviewed by Joe Lauria on Consortium News’ “The World This Week” on July 11, both concluding that the NATO war on Russia has been lost, and that the European governments are collapsing, militarily and economically.

Ritter emphatically asserted that the idea that Russia is suffering (naming RT editor Margarita Simonyan and Gilbert Doctorow for this line) is nonsense’ that his recent visit to Russia (the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and a visit to Donbass) convinced him that the economy and the leadershipare strong. He believes that the only thing that could possibly provoke a Russian attack on a NATO country would be a direct attack on Moscow or Putin’s life, which he thinks is highly unlikely due to the level of the defenses.

McGovern expressed some surprise at Ritter’s change of view about a Russian attack on European sites, but said that he has moved to that view as well, and praised the discussion with Scott as “the kind of frank discussion which professional intelligence officials should be having—but are not.”
