Despite the earlier Supreme Court ruling that Trump’s unilateral “emergency” tariffs were largely illegal, the self-styled lord of the universe has done it again. On Thursday he announced new tariffs of 10% and 12.5% on 60 trade partners, citing lax enforcement of a ban on the use of forced labor to produce goods. Rejection of the charge and demands that the tariffs be dropped were issued by many of the targeted countries, including Australia, China, and others.
