U.S. Military Servicemen Alerted to Dangers of Israeli-Merger Clause in NDAA

Military.com, the veteran-founded media which has won the description as “the biggest source of news for the U.S. Military community,” alerted its readership of the potential danger to U.S. sovereignty represented by Section 1217 in the Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and Section 219 of the House version. The article, headlined “Senate Stalls NDAA with Major Israel Plan Critics Call ‘Treason’,” reports from the outset that “the Senate blocked an NDAA containing the Israel FUTURES Act, which some claim threatens U.S. sovereignty, security and military independence.”

Military.com cites several specific criticisms of Section 1217 military.com, among them former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent’s charge that it is a “betrayal” of U.S. sovereignty; that the Defense Intelligence Agency itself recently raised the danger of Israeli counterintelligence activities against the U.S. to the level of “critical"; and the case of the (infamous) Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, who spent nearly three decades in U.S. prison for the transferring of hundreds of U.S. classified documents to Israeli intelligence.
