During a July 29 Fox News interview following an Iranian strike on a US air base in Jordan, President Trump promised to “beat the “f*ing s*” out of Iran in response. Last night, US Central Command announced a new round of strikes that seemed to fall well short of that promise but nonetheless did some damage. “CENTCOM assets struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities,” Centcom said in a statement. “The strikes aimed to further diminish threats posed by Iran and its proxies to American forces, commercial shipping, and neighboring Gulf countries.”
According to Iranian officials, the US launched missile strikes on several cities in southern Iran early Thursday, killing three members of a family in Qeshm Island and targeting areas in Bushehr, Fars and Khuzestan provinces, reported Tasnim. The overnight attacks targeted the cities of Qeshm, Ahvaz, Abadan, Arvand Kenar, Kish, Kazeroun, Bushehr and Shadegan.
The IRGC said in a statement that it had responded to the US strikes with another of missiles aimed at the Muwaffaq Salti airbase in Jordan. It claimed the destruction of three F-35 stealth fighters and the deaths of an unspecified number of US military personnel, bubut thses claims are unconfirmed.a
