“Third Way,” an Obama-connected Democratic Party policy-shop, has hired a “Director of Anti-Extremism” to head up its mobilization to drive the Democratic Socialists of America out of the Democratic Party—and into the clutches of the Trump administration’s joint Treasury, State and Justice Department’s prosecutorial apparatus. Investigative journalist Ken Klippenstein exposed Third Way’s role in this operation on August 14 in his Substack.
The centerpiece of Klippenstein’s exposé is an email sent by Third Way Senior VP for Social Policy, Education & Politics, Lanae Erickson, on July 23 to a redacted list of people in which she warns against the rise of “extreme far-left voices” within the Democratic Party. “The rise of these voices in American politics poses distinct dangers for our center-left movement,” she charged. “They champion politically toxic ideas and offensive rhetoric,” because “what the activists behind the DSA are advocating for is close to Cuba,” not Scandinavia. Therefore, she advised, “we are launching a strategy to drive awareness of these threats to the party, including adding to our team by hiring a Director of Anti-Extremism to help make our case against these noxious ideas and … recruit a stable of allies to help us get the word out. You’ll hear a lot more in the coming weeks.”
How useful. Erickson’s email was sent just days after the July 16 White House/State Department international “Ministerial on the Resurgence of Political Terrorism.” Its purpose: “to launch an unprecedented global offensive against the transnational threat of Radical Left terrorism,” the White House announced. “Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, far-left extremism will be treated with the same seriousness and ferocity the world has long reserved for jihadist terrorism,” it threatened.
