With the evil Stephen Miller standing at his side, on August 6 President Trump signed two Executive Orders designed to restrict birthright citizenship. The first Executive Order would deny automatic citizenship to babies born to “alien enemies,” members of foreign terrorist organizations, or foreign lobbyists. A second Executive Order would ban “birth tourism” and make babies ineligible for automatic U.S. citizenship when the mother comes to America with the intention to give birth in the U.S. in order to claim U.S. citizenship for her baby. At the signing ceremony at the Oval Office in the White House President Trump falsely said that “hundreds of thousands” of people are utilizing birth tourism. However, according to the Migration Policy Institute, in 2024 fewer than 10,000 babies were born to mothers with a foreign address, out of over 3.6 million live births in the United States.
The ringleader for the administration’s immigration circus has been Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, who took direct aim at the 14th Amendment which has been in place for over 125 years. At the signing event Miller said, “As the president mentioned, the 14th Amendment was passed exclusively in the aftermath of the Civil War, so as to ensure that the children of slaves would be citizens. It had no other meaning and purpose outside of that, and that’s been clear, obviously, since the day that it was passed.”
