The Münich-based IFO institute has released a paper calling for increasing CO² prices in order to force firms to invest in “climate-friendly” technology. Through a poll conducted among 830 manufacturing firms, IFO concluded that a price above 90 Euro per ton would convince firms to “modernize” their plants, thus cutting emissions and needing to purchase no CO² certificates. That however, goes only for firms that have financial abilities to invest
IFO authors either ignore that every hour, 21 firms go bust in Germany, mainly because of unsustainable costs including the CO² tax—or they deliberately want to increase the death rate among German manufacturing companies, through an increase in CO² price.
