The Munich-based IFO institute has released a paper calling for increasing CO₂ prices in order to force firms to invest in “climate-friendly” technology. Through a poll conducted among 830 manufacturing firms, IFO concluded that a price above € 90 per ton would convince firms to “modernize” their plants, thus cutting emissions and needing to purchase no CO₂ certificates. That, however, goes only for firms that have financial ability to invest.

IFO authors either ignore that every hour, 21 firms shut their doors in Germany, mainly because of unsustainable costs, including the CO₂ tax—or they deliberately want to increase the death rate among German manufacturing companies, through an increase in CO₂ price.
