Last night, about thirty Israeli military vehicles and engineering teams, as reported by AFP, entered the West Bank town of Tell and cleared Palestinians out of their homes so that, early this morning, they could blow up and destroy the apartment of a widow and her five daughters. Their crime was that her husband, Farouq Ramadan, had resisted armed Israeli settlers assaulting the village on July 24 and had been killed in the process.
On July 24, a gang of armed settlers approached Tell. Footage showed that Ramadan grabbed a weapon away from a settler.’’ An emergency response team (apparently involving other armed settlers) from nearby rushed in and started firing. Four Palestinians were killed, along with one settler and one soldier. The military stated that there was Palestinian fire and that it killed the soldier, though it wasn’t ready to say by whom the settler was killed.
