Iran Supreme Leader Appoints New Military Commanders

Iran’s Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued decrees on Monday for the appointments of six new military commanders. The previous incumbents on those positions were all victims of US-Israeli assassination strikes in the opening days of the US-Israeli war on Iran that began on Feb. 28.

The appointments include:

Brigadier General Ali Abdollahi has been named Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
