In a continuing breakout of international coverage, the official Russian news agency TASS has run three new articles Sunday based on an interview and statements by U.S. Independent Presidential candidate Diane Sare, in which the maverick Independent candidate from Maine, already campaigning across the country, discusses prospects for improvement in U.S.-Russian relations and for world peace and economic development. A previous TASS report on an interview with Sare was picked up on other Eurasian news media from Russia to Scandinavia. Thus citizens of nations abroad are getting a direct view of “what is really going on in the United States.”
In the first Tass article and in the original, Diane Sare assessed the expected Fall visit of American legislators to the Russian Duma, organized by Florida Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna, as a positive antidote to American media coverage of Russian relations generally. “American lawmakers are aware,” Sare said, that “their constituents are suffering from high inflation in the costs of energy and food and would be appreciative if their Federal representatives would do something to alleviate the pain. Collaborating with Russia on projects of mutual interest, such as the Bering Strait Tunnel or space exploration, could be very beneficial.” Moreover, “If our lawmakers would speak with their Russian counterparts, they would also learn that Russia could help the United States to extricate itself from the Iran war, which we are losing, and which nobody wants.” The original TASS article can be found here.
The second article notes that Sare had called for “enlivening” humanitarian exchanges, commenting that “We share a great deal in common…. “Americans love the music of the great Russian composers like Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Rimsky-Korsakov and the Bolshoi Ballet.” Diane Sare helped to found the Schiller Institute New York City chorus in 2014, which is currently preparing a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as “a pathway out of war”.
