A rare public reaction by U.S. President Trump to PM Netanyahu’s in-your-face rejection of his so-called breakthrough disarmament deal with Hamas was sighted yesterday. Trump had held his tongue for a week now, as Netanyahu has escalated his public rejection, including Netanyahu’s choice of opening Sunday’s cabinet meeting with a denunciation of the deal Trump’s Board of Peace signed with Hamas.
Yesterday, at the end of an Oval Office event, a journalist was able to shout a question on Netanyahu’s public split; and Trump chose to simply characterize his relationship with Netanyahu as “very good.” Al Jazeera contacted the White House and U.S. Department of State for comment on Netanyahu’s Sunday remarks, but received, so far, no response. It is not clear how Trump’s grin-and-bear-it approach will do anything but egg on Netanyahu.
