On Wednesday, August 5, following a weekend of meetings with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Joe Kent, Thomas Massie, and their spouses, popular podcaster Tucker Carlson released a new video called “It’s time to save America, Change is Coming.”
The thesis of this video, is that the current system, particularly since February 28, when the unprovoked Israeli and American war of aggression against Iran began, is over. The proposed solution, which comes across like something prepared by a socially conscious group of middle school students, is for Americans to unite, perhaps in a third party, around “what America should be.”
Carlson opens his 98-minute monologue saying, “The point of any system is to protect the interests of the people it serves and governs. It’s just the nature of it. So what’s a preacher’s job? It’s to minister to the souls of his congregants. What’s a president’s job? It’s to look out for– to protect the interests of his citizens. Really, really simple. It’s inherent to the definition. So, it’s been obvious for a while now that our system is not working as intended because the people in charge of it seem to be looking out mostly, not exclusively, but mostly for their own interests.”
After listing a number of very legitimate grievances, from the impacts of the war to the threat of uncontrolled AI, and stating correctly that both parties seem to agree on the worst of policies, namely war and economic usury, Carlson itemizes his 10 “should be” points, and elaborates on each.
His ten points are “Fair, Sovereign, Productive, Beautiful, Healthy, Honest, Optimistic, Wise, Decent, [and] United.” Embedded in the dialogue following each point are some interesting insights regarding things like the impact of massive indebtedness on the typical American family, the destruction of beautiful architecture to be replaced by ugly architecture, and the lack of interest in educating our children, but nowhere is a solution provided. He speaks about the negative impact of becoming a consumer economy as compared to productive.
