U.S. Objects to Israel Letting Settlers Run Amok

Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported on a White House meeting yesterday over the Israeli government’s inability to stop the radical West Bank settlers from terrorizing Palestinian homes in Qusra. It reported that a senior White House official is now slated to speak with PM Netanyahu to demand answers.

It is no secret that, under Netanyahu’s partners, Defense Minister Israel Katz and National Security Minister Itamar ben-Gvir, the IDF and the Israeli police have worked hand-in-glove with the ‘settlers’ to seize land and drive the Palestinians out of the West Bank. For the last week, a gang of armed settlers have cut off electricity and water to three homes in Qusra and occupied positions in front of their homes, trapping around 15 residents inside. Yesterday’s efforts by the IDF failed once again to disarm and remove what looked to be fewer than two dozen men out in the open.

One of the trapped, Qusay Abu Reeda, stated: “We appeal to government institutions and to every free and honorable person to help us secure food and medicine.” Another resident told Ha’aretz that the radical settlers, “are roaming freely around the houses. Now they’re knocking on the doors. We have no water and very little food, and we can’t leave the house. We’re begging the whole world to get us out of this ordeal.”
