The U.S. Senate voted 86-11 Aug. 7 to approve the anti-Russia sanctions bill–with an anti-Iran provision included–that was crafted by the late warmongering Senator Lindsey Graham. The bill would penalize countries that continue to buy Russian oil, gas and other exports on the spurious notion that it is the revenues from those exports that are “fueling” the war in Ukraine, and not the US/NATO/EU objective of using the Kiev regime to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.
This vote comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Capitol last week following Graham’s funeral. Zelensky met with senators from both parties, and watched from the gallery as the Senate took the first procedural votes, preliminary to yesterday’s full chamber vote, as noted by many media, including AP.
