There is nothing new about the clinical sadism of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. His is a pathetic, tortured soul. However, now, along with the escalation of his exhibitionism, the combination threatens to turn Israel’s election period into the equivalent of one gigantic ‘snuff film’ event.
On Monday, he published a new video of himself, having visited the Damon security prison, as a manly man berating female prisoners—of course, while standing behind a human wall of his entourage. One woman is complaining of the lack of water, the inability to take a normal shower, the exposure to disease, the lack of medical care, and such. “We haven’t bathed for three days, and we haven’t changed our underwear.”
The problem is that the woman thinks she is talking to a functioning human being. Rather, Ben Gvir is there to get footage of him lording it over the sufferings of others. He retorted: “I am proud that we have succeeded in reducing the terrorists’ prison conditions to the bare minimum. The days of summer camp in prisons in Israel are over. I’m responsible for that. Whoever hurts my brothers won’t receive hotel conditions.” Posting the video, he added the explanation: “The ‘moaning’ of the terrorists about prison conditions doesn’t work on me.” He vowed to continue his policy of “the minimum of minimum” conditions.
