For years Elon Musk has personally been abusing LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, magic mushrooms, and ketamine, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, and has spoken publicly of the “benefits” of psychedelics. Much of the funding to take psychedelics “mainstream” has been coming from a circle of Musk’s billionaire friends and close business associates. Recently directors from Musk’s SpaceX have been funding the drive to use psychedelics for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), according to a separate report by the Wall Street Journal.
Last year Elon Musk’s long-time friend and ally, SpaceX Director Antonio Gracias, wrote a check for $25 million from his family foundation to rescue Lykos Therapeutics from financial ruin when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rejected its application to approve MDMA (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), commonly known as “ecstasy” or “Molly,” for the use to treat PTSD. This Musk circle considers MDMA to be one of the more promising psychedelics for use as a treatment for PTSD, but one of the reasons that it failed the FDA test is that the application did not list a single negative side effect such as causing suicidal thoughts.
According to the Journal, Gracias, along with British hedge fund billionaire Christopher Hohn, essentially took over Lykos, changed its name to Resilient Pharmaceuticals, and relocated its headquarters to Chicago, where Gracias operated his investment firm, Valor Equity Partners. Gracias also gave another $16 million as an endowment for a Harvard University project to fund an entire research program on psychedelics in society.
