Follow-up to the weekend meeting in India between China’s President Xi Jinping and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi came without delay. There, a meeting of minds occurred around the realization that both wanted to identify and address roadblocks in their relations and work on what would benefit both nations.

In New Delhi, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy, Yu Jing, posted that the meeting between Xi and Modi has put the two countries on higher level, where they are to address each other’s economic and trade concerns in a balanced manner, making sure that businesses and people in both countries secure greater benefits. She was reported as saying: “China stands ready to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries.” Beijing wants to expand “mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic and trade fields” and “properly address each other’s economic and trade concerns in a balanced manner.”
