Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left New York to return to Tehran early Tuesday after a long series of diplomatic engagements. On the last day of his presence in New York, he met with António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, and discussed the most important regional and international developments, reported IRNA. Regional developments and issues related to the war and the current situation in the region were among the focal points of this meeting.

Before he left New York, Araghchi told Iranian reporters that he had met again with Qatari mediators and discussed possible ways to facilitate implementation of Tehran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. “They had ideas, and we discussed how a way could be found to meet Iran’s conditions and how those conditions could be fulfilled,” he said, reported IRNA. The ideas would now be raised with the U.S. side, after which Washington’s final response would be relayed to Tehran, Araghchi said. “I hope this will happen by tomorrow,” he added.
