Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had a busy day of diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York on Friday, including meetings with his Saudi and Omani counterparts (among many others). Araghchi briefed Saudi Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Iran and Oman regarding the safe shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian readout. “Pointing to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm determination to strengthen trust, particularly regarding security mechanisms based on regional interaction, the Iranian foreign minister expressed hope that all influential regional parties would cooperate in this regard, considering the bitter experience of the past seven months and exploitation of certain regional parties’ territories and facilities by the U.S. and the Zionist regime to carry out military aggression against the Islamic Republic.”

The Iranian readout of Araghchi’s meeting with his Omani counterpart Badr al-Busaidi says only that they met to discuss the bilateral relations, the recent regional and international developments and issues of the mutual interest.
