Daniella Marques, the economic policy advisor for Brazilian presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro, told a Sept. 14 seminar of Business CEOs in Sao Paulo, sponsored by the Esfera Group thinktank, that Argentine President Javier Milei’s destructive Austrian School economic program is “inspiring” Flavio to plan measures like those Milei has applied to wreck the Argentine economy and immiserate its people. Marques’s own record is none too pretty. She worked for Paulo Guedes, the neoliberal Economy Minister of former President Jair Bolsonaro (Flavio’s father), and is slated to hold the same post in Flavio’s government should he be elected in the October elections.

As reported by Rede Estacao Democracia, Marques told the “Brazil Today” seminar in Sao Paulo that Milei’s program offers a “perfect example” of how to reduce the bureaucracy and taxes and reestablish “investment capability.” Flavio’s team, she said, has already identified 1,000 regulations that can be revoked under his presidency. Also under discussion is a major austerity program, which Marques insists must be imposed “quickly,” doing away with “tax benefits” and privatizing state sector companies.
