Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, India, on September 12. They discussed the multiple conflicts raging in Southwest Asia and Africa, as well as bi-lateral relations.
El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to advance the implementation of the second-phase obligations under the agreement to halt the war in the Gaza Strip. Both leaders stressed the necessity of assuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to a statement released by the Egyptian presidency. On the Iranian crisis they stressed the priority of de-escalation and a return to the negotiating track.
