On September 26, speaking at the UN General Assembly, Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called for a new and major role in world affairs for the Global South and East, and chided the Western minority “which has dominated for 500 years,” and which wants to preserve its privileges and to impose its own rules.

Itemizing in detail the criminal activity of the U.S. and the broader West in their ongoing illegal economic warfare and military assaults against Iran, Venezuela, Palestine and Russia, Lavrov repeatedly singled out Germany and Japan for ignoring the lessons of the Nuremberg Trials and related trials, and for engaging in militarism and revanchism. He sharply focused on the EU leadership for being “contaminated with the virus of racial superiority,” supporting the Ukrainian regime which glorifies Ukraine’s Nazi collaborators who carried out the genocide, during World War II, against the Soviet peoples. Referring to today’s Germany, which has declared that it will become “a leading military power in Europe,” Lavrov asked the assembly, “Do they understand what this could lead to?”

Lavrov called for UN reform to allow the nations of Asia and Africa and Latin America to play a new, major role, and for the UN Security Council to be expanded by the addition of Brazil and India as Permanent Members, and Lavrov specifically stated that the expansion not include “more Western countries, especially not Germany and Japan.” He concluded by emphasizing that the UN Charter guarantees “equal and indivisible security” for each and every nation.
