In an online briefing on Sept. 8, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov outlined the natural consequences of U.S. actions in accelerating the “de-dollarization” of the financial system.

Speaking to media gathered in New Delhi ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India to participate in the BRICS Summit on September 11–13, Peskov raised the importance of BRICS in the financial sphere: “Russia recently reached a level of 90% of all payments, transactions, with BRICS countries being made in national currencies. It’s very important. It’s not because we are aiming for de-dollarization, for getting rid of U.S. dollars; no, to the contrary. We are open to every acceptable method of payment.
