A plan by the Trump administration to subvert the International Criminal Court (ICC) was reported yesterday by the Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed officials. The plan is said to involve massive sanctions to punish the ICC. The WSJ says that documents they viewed backed up what the officials told them, that the sanctions would aim at stopping most all ICC transactions.
Two years ago, the ICC had issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for alleged crimes against Palestinians. Then, in early 2025, Trump had imposed sanctions against the ICC for engaging “in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel.”
