A new report by the [UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan]( https://news.un.org/en/story/2026/09/1168270)documents the foreign support for the criminal Rapid Support Force militia that has been carrying a bloody rebellion against the government of Sudan .
Released on September 3 the report documents the involvement of transnational entities operating in several countries in recruiting, training, and deploying foreign personnel, including mercenaries from Columbia to support the RSF, as well as facilitating the transfer of weapons, ammunition, and military technology, and providing logistical support.
EIR has reported that mercenaries, most likely recruited from Colombian narcotics trafficking organizations who are also being deployed to the Ukraine to fight with the Ukrainina army.
“This external support has not brought greater protection for civilians. Instead, civilians are paying the price through attacks on homes, hospitals, schools, markets and places of refuge.”
Their report documented the deployment of up to 2,000 former Colombian military contractors who were directly involved in operating combat drones, artillery and advanced weapons alongside RSF units in Darfur and Kordofan. Recruiters operating from countries including Colombia and the United Arab Emirates used transit points in Chad, southeastern Libya, and the Somalian city of Bosaso to facilitate the delivery of personnel, training, weapons, and logistical supplies to the RSF in Sudan.
The report documented what has been described as genocide by the RSF against certain minorities in the Dafur region.
Mona Rishmawi, an expert member of the mission, said it had identified “a transnational chain of networks spanning several countries” that provided the RSF with foreign personnel, training, weapons and logistics. “This support fed into RSF operations in Zamzam camp and later during the takeover of El-Fasher, where the Mission documented grave human rights and international humanitarian law violations and international crimes, including conduct displaying hallmarks of genocide,” she said.
It also concluded that there are reasonable grounds to believe that the SAF used foreign-supplied drones in operations that harmed civilians and civilian objects. It called for extending the arms embargo to the entire country.
Unfortunately the policy being supported by the United States and Great Britain on the security Council along with the European Union has demanded the Sudanese government to negotiate with the RSF as if the latter represents a legitimate opposition and not a bloody militia serving a policy of regime change by the “West.” Especially Great Britain, the former colonial power.
By contrast the Sudanese government led by general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is seen as the legitimate government by by Russia, China and Egypt, all of whom are members of the BRICS as well as Saudi Arabia, Turkey and other countries.
