Congressional Candidate Jose Vega issued the following release today:
On September 13, 2026, at 11am EDT, I, Jose Vega, will be hosting an event in Manhattan on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, Washington D.C., and the United States. The event is entitled “9/11 (+25): The Endless War Turned on You.”
I am pleased to announce that participants, some in person and some via live video feed, will include former NSA officials Thomas Drake and J. Kirk Wiebe. They will be joining William Binney, the originator of the “ThinThread” surveillance system, for a special panel on the post-9/11 surveillance state. All three of these men were at NSA at the time of the 9/11 attack. Binney contends that ThinThread could have tracked the threat and its perpetrators beforehand without privacy violations, even perhaps preventing the 9/11 tragedy from occurring. Instead, that system was repurposed and deployed to spy on the American people. How did that happen?
In the aftermath of that terrifying attack on the United States, the American people were misled into a series of endless wars, beginning with the 20-year occupation of Afghanistan; into the illegal, mass-murderous war against Iraq—under the blatantly false pretense that Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction; and into domestic mass surveillance by the NSA and other intelligence agencies, with the justification that this unconstitutional activity was being done to prevent unknown terrorist threats.
I, who am now running to become Congressman in the Bronx’s 15th Congressional District, recognize that I am one of the 100 million Americans who was either not yet born, or too young, to have directly experienced what that day of infamy did to the United States. We 100 million Americans have a consciousness shaped by “post 9/11”—a time of permanent, perpetual war. The “United States of War” is the only one we have ever known.
So many people today—particularly those under the age of 30—do not understand the truth of how the United States fundamentally changed on September 11, 2001, now 25 years ago. The nation founded upon safeguarding the freedoms of ordinary citizens, promoting economic development for all, and shining a light to other nations seeking to declare their independence and promote their own sovereignty against imperialism—which we opposed 250 years ago, on July 4, 1776—had morphed into something else. Has it become its opposite?
What is that something else that we have become? And what must we become now? To discuss this, I will be joined by various speakers, with different histories and politics, yes, but with a single, unified intention—ending the domination by the Epstein War Party over U.S. policy—foreign and domestic.
