In the next 15 years the world will see 1.2 billion young people entering the labor market, but 800 million will not find employment, according to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in its new report now posted, No Time To Recover. This is especially difficult for developing countries, where the median age is often between 18 and 25. UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo stressed in a press briefing in New York, yesterday, that “this is the result of policy,” and that there is no sustainable anti-poverty program without jobs.
The UN’s Mr. De Croo sounded the alarm of the growing extreme poverty, which the UN measures not only in low income, but also the lack of access to electricity, clean water, health care, and education, as documented in the new UNDP report, dated Oct. 11.
