On Oct. 8 seventy-four members of Congress sent a letter to Secretatry of War Pete Hegseth demanding answers for excessive civilian deaths from airstrikes in Iran and the total lack of transparency over the war in general.
Lawmakers point to several deadly attacks such as the Sept. 1 air strike on a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, where 3 adults and 2 children were killed and at least 70 people were injured. The Pentagon has not taken responsibility for the attack. The letter calls this strike part of “an alarming pattern of civilian casualty incidents in strikes carried out by the United States in Iran since the war began.”
