The Houthis/Ansar Allah escalated their war on Saudi Arabia yesterday with attacks on two airports as well as on oil infrastructure. Video appeared of at least one airliner engulfed in flames while parked at a terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. As a result of the bombardment, Lufthansa and Air India said they were suspending flights to Riyadh, reported Reuters. According to data compiled by aviation analytics company Cirium, almost half of departures from Riyadh airport had been cancelled by 1500 GMT, with 31 more cancellations expected for Friday in all Saudi airports.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree confirmed not only the targeting of the airport in Riyadh but also the ones in Najran and the Khamis Mushait airbase. Several hours later Saudi authorities announced that they had reopened the airport after the attack, which Houthis had reported killed three people and wounded several others.
