The Financial Times on Oct. 11 has again stepped in to sound the alarm that Moscow is a dangerous enemy and is intent on attacking Europe. This time, they warn that Russia is plotting to kill Europe’s defense executives, and cites sources from five unnamed European intelligence services. According to the FT, the officials said the Kremlin has ordered an expansion of sabotage and “hybrid” operations in Europe “as it seeks to fatally weaken support for Kiev in the coming months.”
The article claims that executives and senior staff at defense firms, including smaller drone and component makers, are being targeted. An official with Germany’s domestic intelligence service (BfV) reported that the agency has increased its recommendations to firms that they should seek out private security teams.
