On Oct. 5 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued an updated policy statement that again warns that unpasteurized dairy products may contain E. coli, listeria, salmonella, and the H5N1 (bird flu) virus. Raw milk is risky to all people, but especially to children and pregnant women. Some children who consumed raw milk have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a potentially fatal blood and kidney condition. The AAP statement also refutes claims that raw milk can “boost immunity” or “cure allergies,” and states that no scientific evidence supports these claims.

This is in direct opposition to policies from U.S. Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who for years has been one of the biggest promoters of raw milk. At the May 2025 ceremony at the White House releasing the MAHA Report, RFK drank a glass of raw milk to make it a cornerstone of his unfounded remedies for chronic disease and other ailments.
