Retired Spanish Col. Pedro Baños, a prominent military antiwar voice with an audience in the Spanish-speaking world of nearly a million subscribers to his El canal del Coronel YouTube channel, reported Oct. 4 on X that Tiktok had shut down his account, with its nearly 185,000 followers, with no reason given. Baños responded:
“In the European `Borrellian garden,’ censorship is being imposed with force and brazenness. Through the implementation of the European Digital Services Act, along with the actions of certain intelligence agencies—in collaboration with subsidized private entities—they are managing to silence narratives that deviate from the official line…. God forbid they let us have the freedom to think for ourselves and the audacity to claim the freedom to express ourselves.”
One of Baños’s primary “crimes” is his outspoken campaign for Spain not to join NATO’s intended war against the nuclear power, Russia. He argues, as he did during the Sept. 4, 2026 EIR-International Peace Coalition Roundtable, “An Alternative to War and Looting in the Americas, that “the primary mission of a soldier in a democratic country is to ensure that his country does not get involved in wars in which it has nothing to gain and can only cause it immense harm. And therefore, that is one of the missions I have set for myself as a soldier—since I have been in wars and know them firsthand—specifically to seek that Spain, my country, my homeland, not follow in the footsteps of a NATO that seems increasingly interested in entering … a completely suicidal conflict against Russia.”
