The trial against Ukrainian special forces agent Serhii Kuznetsov opened today in Hamburg. Sixteen hearings are scheduled, and the trial is supposed to stretch into 2027. Whereas experts cast doubts on the “Ukrainians did it” story, the trial has prompted requests for halting support to Ukraine, and even for demanding compensation. These requests from circles including the AfD, as well as from former BND chief August Hanning, recently arrested.

Kuznetsov has called for a termination of proceedings. He said he was in the Army at the time of the events and is bound by military secrets. He cannot even speak freely with his lawyer, and therefore he cannot have adequate defense.
