The war between the Saudis and the Houthis continues. The Saudi-led coalition said early Sunday that it had downed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards the Saudi capital Riyadh, reported Arabiya. “Air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward Riyadh,” the coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki said in a post on X.
At about the same time, the King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) announced that it was reopening two terminals after a two-week closure of the airport. The airport suspended operations earlier this month, Al Arabiya noted. The Houthi militia has carried out waves of strikes on the airport, including an attack this month that killed 13 people and wounded more than 300.
All this came after the Houthis reiterated their warnings against travel through KKIA. “The Yemeni Armed Forces reiterate their warning to all international, regional, and local airlines, as well as staff and travelers, against traveling through Khalid Airport in Riyadh, as it is unsafe and serves as a military target for us,” said Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree. “The Saudi regime shall bear the consequences of any operations at the airport and all that may ensue, as the Armed Forces will continue their operations against it; it will never be safe.”
