Philosophers Foucauld Giuliani and Paul Colrat reacted to statements made by Pascal Praud, star columnist of C News, an outlet that is part of the press empire of Vincent Bolloré, a billionaire with views similar to those of Donald Trump on areas of immigration, and a believer, in his own way, of “might makes right.”
While columnist Pascal Praud opposes the “chaos” of the high school demonstrations to the “concord” surrounding the recent visit of the Pope, philosophers Foucauld Giuliani and Paul Colrat remind us, in an opinion piece in Le Monde, that the revolutionary impulse is an essential component of the Christian faith.
On Oct. 1, Praud declared, regarding the high school student protests: “By a quirk of timing, these images of chaos emerge after those of harmony, fraternity, and the good life, which were broadcast on the occasion of the papal visit [from September 25th to 28th]. Two rooms, two atmospheres. Two Frances, two cultures.”
